SBRL Open House - 06.16.2006
On Wednesday October 4th, 2006 The SBRL and EMPAC, in association with the Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences, hosted an open house event at the Winslow Building. The open house ran from 4pm to 6pm, with catering by Sodexho. Attendees ranged from Freshmen students to members of the President's Office.

New SBRL Facility Construction - 06.16.2006
The Social and Behavioral Research Lab will be relocating in late July to the Winslow Building. The Winslow Building is the former home of the Children's Museum, located across from West Hall and Walker on 8th St.

Vicon MX3 Motion Capture System Integration - 05.18.2006
The Social and Behavioral Research Lab now houses a state-of-the-art Vicon MX3 Motion Capture System. An Industry standard, this is the same type of system used to create contemporary CGI motion animation for such films as The Lord of the Rings Trilogy.

SBRL Official Opening, October 2003 - 10.06.2003
The new Social and Behavioral Research Laboratory (SBRL) in the historic Gurley building in downtown Troy held its grand opening October 6th, 2003, with a showcase of the facilities and the research currently being conducted within. Government officials, community leaders, researchers, professors, and media from the Capital Region were invited to share in the celebration.

Workshop on HCI Research, May 2003 - 05.31.2003
On May 31, eleven managers and project directors from IBM, eleven RPI faculty, and four graduate students congregated in the new Social and Behavioral Research Lab (SBRL) for an all-day workshop on HCI research. LL&C faculty members Robert Krull, Bill Hart-Davidson, and Roger Grice presented synopses of current research projects, as did Selmer Bringsjord of Cognitive Science and Mike Danchak of Computer Science. IBM presented some of their recent user documentation and education projects and research needs, and Jim Watt lead a tour of the new lab.

The SBRL provides research teams with physical space for research projects, laboratory equipment for a broad range of projects, technical support services like computer programming, networking, and equipment construction, administrative support for conducting funded research, and space for housing postdoctoral associates and graduate research assistants.  Learn more
